I think those Love & Rockets "digests" did super-well, and I enjoyed the heck out of them and wouldn't have bothered if they were 9x12 (never touched those omnibus versions). Plus, the size chosen for the images in the Archives series is pretty much the size of the original comics. Re: your point about bio. tomes being bigger - I like to look at a piece of original art blown up to 9x12 but it drains me when I'm trying to read a whole 240-page volume of STORIES at that size. Maybe it's my 20/10 vision! :)Blake Bellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14257271643625561722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654726374561042800.post-45192927446747285212011-10-28T22:18:47.552-04:002011-10-28T22:18:47.552-04:00The size of these books, 7.25" x 9.5", i...The size of these books, 7.25" x 9.5", is it your choice or the publisher's imposition? Would you make them bigger if you had your way?<br /><br />If you could, would you make them the same size as "Fire & Water" and "Strange and Stranger", 9" x 12"?<br /><br />Personally, I'm baffled that the biographical tomes are the ones that are huge whereas the books collecting the actual comics are tiny, and while I'm sure you can enumerate all kinds of commercial, technical, or whatever reasons, I doubt they'll assuage my frustration.Curious Tonynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654726374561042800.post-40827061131414190192011-10-19T10:19:43.450-04:002011-10-19T10:19:43.450-04:00Hi Ray. Bob, you know better than to assume that just because geniuses like us know about Everett's contributions such genius won't always translate to the "common". ;) I bet if you polled the "99%" (of comic fans, I mean), many would say Frank Miller created Daredevil! :) At least a lot wouldn't even remember that Everett was connected to the art in issue #1. They'd probably say the artist was Wally Wood (maybe even Joe Orlando).Blake Bellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14257271643625561722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654726374561042800.post-12102576983638146692011-10-18T21:56:10.976-04:002011-10-18T21:56:10.976-04:00i thought is was common knowledge Bill Everett cre...i thought is was common knowledge Bill Everett created Daredevil - that was the news buzz when DD #1 hit the stands back in 1964 and I began getting fanzines back in 1965Robert Beerbohmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02514676878677036242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654726374561042800.post-72739643776515312682011-10-18T21:51:30.803-04:002011-10-18T21:51:30.803-04:00Congratulations on finishing what I'm sure wil...Congratulations on finishing what I'm sure will be a marvelous addition to your books in print, Blake!Ray Cuthberthttp://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=103noreply@blogger.com
